Despite the best efforts of Netscape to maintain a lead in the browser wars, Microsoft's Internet Explorer appears to have captured the hearts and minds of the majority of net users.

Now into version 5, there's no doubting the power and functionality of Mr Gates' offering but for the first-time user or beginner to the world of the Web it can be quite a daunting program when first tackled.

Internet Explorer 5 in Easy Steps is a no-nonsense beginner's guide to understanding the features of the program plus some tasty titbits of information about the Internet as a whole.

As with all books in the In Easy Steps series, the information is presented in a user friendly and easy to assimilate form.

Beginning with a brief introduction on the origins of the Internet, the book guides the reader through the process of setting up their computer, configuring dial-up connections and accessing the Net for the first time.

A large part of the book is devoted to a list of interesting Web sites chosen by the author covering a broad spectrum of topics plus a quick guide to using search engines to allow the reader to find exactly what they want.
