Synopsis
Traditionally, Western medicine aims to cure an illness with a drug that has the opposite effect to the symptoms. Homeopathy stands that tradition on its head. It treats the disease by administering minute doses of drugs that, in a healthy person, would actually produce the symptoms of the illness. This is treating like with like. The nearest equivalent to be found in modern medical practice is vaccination, where the cowpox virus is used against smallpox. Injected into a healthy person, the virus stimulates the body to produce its own antibodies and hence immunity against the disease. So it is with homeopathy. This book aims to offer a balanced and comprehensive view of the subject, explaining the background to homeopathy and how the layman can safely use it.
