In this retelling by Marcus Sedgwick, the Emperor is a very proud and vain lion, served by his long-suffering Chamberlain and Treasurer (who many Jay fans will recognise as the hare and the tortoise from her previous Templar title, The Race). He's eager to impress his subjects, and when two tailors, appropriately rendered as weasels, come knocking, he has an idea. He'll commission the finest set of robes ever seen! But the devious tailors have plans of their own...

About the Author
Following a 16-year career in children s publishing, Marcus Sedgwick became an author. His books have been shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal and the Guardian Children s Book Prize. Alison Jay is a graduate of the London College of Printing and the critically acclaimed illustrator of many books for children, including Christmas Time, Welcome to the Zoo and Nursery Rhyme Rainbow.
