This cool children’s book for readers aged five and up is a bold, brave shout-out for children who feel they don't fit in. Told in the form of a lyrical poem, a young monster feels they have to hide their individuality in order to try and fit in as the ‘new kid’. When they meet another monster that also feels excluded and shy, they realise that differences are an exciting way to learn new things and what makes us all truly ‘magnificent’! This anti-bullying book lets kids know it’s OK to be who you are.
Longlisted for 2022’s Klaus Flugge Prize, celebrating outstanding newcomers to picture book illustration, debut artist Ria Dastidar’s collaged illustrations are a riot of colour. It is written by Laura Dockrill, previously shortlisted for the Waterstones Book of the Year award and is part of Pop Up Projects’ 10 Stories to Make a Difference collection. The collection features a mix of well-known and emerging writers and illustrators, giving a platform to untold stories and diverse new voices. This edition is a beautiful clothbound hardback
