Book Description

It’s easy to learn and deploy resources in Microsoft Azure, thanks to Microsoft’s meticulous documentation. When we deploy resources in Azure to learn and explore the platform, we don’t need to be concerned about the best practices or resource optimization. However, when it comes to production or mission critical workloads, it’s very crucial that we follow the best practices for resource deployment to attain security, reliability, operational excellence and performance. Apart from these aspects, we should take the cost into consideration, as this is one of the reasons behind every organization’s cloud transformation.

In this book, you will learn how to leverage the Microsoft’s Well Architected Framework to optimize our workloads in Azure. Well Architected Framework is a set of recommended practices developed by Microsoft based on five aligned pillars. The pillars are Cost Optimization, Performance, Reliability, Operational Excellence and Security. You will take a deep dive of each of these pillars and see how we can perform an assessment to determine the quality of our existing workloads.

During the journey, we will cover different design patterns and procedures related to each of the Well Architected Framework pillars. By the end of this book, you should be able to collect and assess data from an Azure environment and then perform necessary upturn of your Azure workloads.

What you will learn

  • Deep Dive of Azure Well Architected Framework
  • Difference between Cloud Adoption Framework and Well Architected Framework
  • Understanding the pillars of Well Architected Framework
  • Data collection and assessment of Azure workloads
  • Remediation planning for optimization
