Synopsis

Build, test, and deploy production-ready Flutter apps for mobile, web, and desktop, while adding AI features using ML Kit, Gemini, and agentic workflows

Key Features

  • Integrate ML Kit and Gemini APIs to build AI-powered features into your Flutter apps
  • Cover state management, architecture, testing, and debugging for production-ready apps
  • Build and deploy cross-platform apps for mobile, web, and desktop from one codebase

Book Description

“Anyone interested in developing Flutter applications for Android or iOS should have a copy of this book on their desk.” – Amazon 5* Review

Lauded as the ‘Flutter bible’ for new and experienced mobile app developers, this recipe-based guide teaches best practices for robust, production-ready app development and solving cross-platform challenges.

From setting up your development environment to error handling, debugging, and testing, Flutter Cookbook covers both the how-tos and the principles behind them. As you progress, you’ll tackle core tasks such as UI/UX design, API integration, animations, and managing application state using Provider, Riverpod, and GetX. Later chapters explore routing, working with web services, local data persistence, and testing using unit, widget, and integration tests. A dedicated section covers Firebase and its machine learning capabilities, along with building AI-powered features using ML Kit and Gemini APIs. You’ll also build apps for iOS and Android from a single codebase, with guidance on extending them to web and desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux).

Throughout the book, you’ll learn how to develop, run, and deploy cross-platform apps to the App Store and Google Play. By the end, you’ll confidently build, test, and deliver fully functional Flutter applications.

What you will learn

  • Build apps for iOS, Android, web, and desktop
  • Add AI features using ML Kit and Gemini APIs
  • Apply state management with Provider, Riverpod, GetX
  • Handle async programming with Future and Stream
  • Integrate Firebase for auth, storage, and ML capabilities
  • Structure apps using layered architecture patterns
  • Write unit, widget, and integration tests for apps
  • Deploy apps to the App Store and Google Play

About the Authors

Simone Alessandria wrote his first program when he was 12. It was a text-based fantasy game for the Commodore 64. Now, he is a trainer (MCT), author, speaker, passionate software architect, and always a proud coder. He is the founder and owner of Softwarehouseit. His mission is to help developers achieve more through training and mentoring. He has authored several books on Flutter, including Flutter Projects, published by Packt, and web courses on Pluralsight and Udemy.

Martino Yovo's path into software began with a fascination for understanding complex systems. That curiosity eventually led him from physics into software engineering, where he now builds modern applications, developer tools, and SDKs. He is a recognized Google Developer Expert (GDE) in Flutter and an international speaker who has spoken at major technology conferences around the world. His work also explores emerging technologies, including AI workflows. Outside of technology, he enjoys running and staying active.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when people around the world were staying home, Abu Anwar published his first Flutter tutorial on YouTube. The response from developers was overwhelming, inspiring him to continue creating content. His channel, The Flutter Way, quickly grew to become the second most followed Flutter YouTube channel among Flutter developers.

Abu is also a passionate open-source contributor. His projects have accumulated more than 35,000 GitHub stars and used by over 100,000 developers worldwide. In recognition of his contributions to the Flutter ecosystem, he was named a Google Developer Expert (GDE) in Flutter. He regularly speaks at global events such as FlutterCon, Google I/O, and Google DevFest, sharing his knowledge with the developer community.

Alongside community work, Abu collaborates with companies to help them choose the right technologies and architecture for their products, with a strong focus on testing, accessibility, and security.
