Synopsis

When down on his luck actor Kent Ashford gets the part of his dreams as one of the lawyers in an upcoming movie about the OJ Simpson trial he is elated. His agent suggests he research the role by spending time in the New York criminal courts, so he gets into character by dressing the part and heads down there. When the security team issue him with a visiting attorney's pass, he is sure it's a good sign that he's doing well. However, when an understaffed judge press gangs him into service he feels he might have gone too far. Nobody there will believe he is not a real attorney though. He can only hope he is a good enough actor to help those to whom he has been assigned counsel.

About the Author

Born of an Italian war bride in 1948 at Newcastle upon Tyne, Ben Conlon lived in Naples, Italy with mother and younger sister for a short time before returning to England. Attended Gateshead Boys' Grammar School and was the youngest interpreter in the 1966 World Cup. In 1974 he was awarded LLB(Hons.) and went on to be Called to the Bar of Gray's Inn. He was youngest head and founder of Barristers' Chambers in London and was later admitted to the New York State Bar. Lived in US with his wife and six sons for many years before returning to England, where he now resides with his wife and one son in Hamstreet, Kent.
