Synopsis

Bob Erickson draws on his forty-plus years of software experience to present a wide-ranging vision for how to develop great software. He explains why the popular Agile movement might not be the best way for you and your team. Instead, he advocates the Geodesic Philosophy that achieves agility by emphasizing the right kinds of leadership, planning and management control, together with the best development practices. Erickson presents what managers need to know about development, and what developers need to know about management, and how they can work together to make their teams more effective. He draws on literature, movies, classical architecture and popular culture to help you understand the lessons for great software development. When you open the book, you will learn about software. You will be challenged to think about software in new ways. And you will laugh, because laughter helps the mind understand and remember.
