Synopsis

Throughout this fabulous adventure, the author takes us to the pursuit of lost torches in the past and of those who carried them to instruct us on the Grail, on his legend and his inner truth, on the fact that Druids had known it long before Joseph of Arimathea put himself in march westward, that the seven Hindu Rishis had known it before the Druids and that there had been, on the whole earth, small communities to worship it.

In this book, the author makes us explore the wisdom of the Druids, the Swastika, the legacy of the Albigensians, Merlin the Enchanter, the legend of the Grail, the mystery of Tarot, the Ark of the Covenant of the Jews, the mission of the Bohemians, and the secret of Buddha and the one of Jesus.

In The Key to the Hidden, Maurice Magre broaches subjects sometimes taboo, with a rare lucidity and competence.

About the Author

Maurice Magre was a French writer, poet and playwright. He was an ardent supporter of Occitania, and did much to publicize the martyrdom of the Cathars of the thirteenth century. For his historical novels about the Cathars, Maurice Magre especially fits in the tradition of the historian Napoleon Peyrat, in the sense that the author often prefers legends and romantic epic rather than historical truth.

He composed his first poem at the age of fourteen. His first collections of verses were published in 1895. From 1898, he published in Paris successively four collections of poetry.

During the first part of his life, he led a bohemian life and of debauchery and even became an opium addict. He experienced all the pleasures, sought all ecstasies. Despite a bad reputation, however, he became a famous and popular author. On the occasion of the publication of one of his books in 1924, Le Figaro wrote, "Magre is an anarchist, an individualist, a sadistic, an opium addict. He has all the flaws, he is a very great writer. One should read his work."

In the second part of his life, he became interested in esotericism and leads a spiritual quest, but thereby do not cease to publish many works, as evidenced by the list of his works.

In 1919, he discovered The Secret Doctrine, the major work of Madame Blavatsky, co-founder of the Theosophical Society.

In 1935, though he was ill, he traveled to India to meet the Indian sage Sri Aurobindo in his ashram located in Pondicherry, the Aurobindo Ashram, in pursuit of wisdom.

1937, he founded with Francis Rolt-Wheeler, the "Society of Friends of Montségur and of the Holy Grail." He rests in the cemetery of Terre-Cabade in Toulouse where one can see his grave.

He is the brother of Andrew Magre (1873-1949), who was secretary-general of the presidency of the Republic during the entire term of office of Albert Lebrun.
