Synopsis

Transform maths practice into brain-teasing adventures with Sum Fun Maths Assessment: Years 5–6! Designed for busy teachers, these reproducible self-correcting puzzle sheets assess key curriculum skills through laughter-filled challenges.

Each sheet targets a specific objective, covering number and place value, the four operations, fractions, decimals, and percentages. With several worksheets for each skill and an assessment checklist, it’s easy to keep track of pupils’ progress throughout the year.

As pupils solve problems, they reveal the punchlines to riddles and jokes — like “What goes dot-dash-croak?” (morse toad)? — turning practice into play.

The aim of the ‘Sum Fun’ series is to enable teachers to gather evidence and assess children’s learning in maths. Linked to year group objectives from the National Curriculum, each fun activity sheet requires pupils to use their mathematical skills to solve a series of questions. They must then use the answers to ‘crack the code’ and find the solutions to silly jokes, puns and riddles.
