About the Author

D P Kothari obtained his B E (Electrical) in 1967, M E (Power Systems) in 1969 and Ph D in 1975 from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, Rajasthan. He was Vice Chancellor, VIT, Vellore, Director in-charge and Deputy Director (Administration) as well as Head in the Centre of Energy Studies at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He was Visiting Professor at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Australia, during 1982-83 and 1989, for two years. He also remained NSF Fellow at Purdue University, USA in 1992. He was fellow of Royal Society of London at Imperial College, London in 2004. He is DG of JB Group of Educational Institutions, a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), Indian National Science Academy (INSA), Institution of Engineers, India (IEI) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He has authored/co-authored more than 760 papers in International Journals/Conferences and 30 books, including Power System Protection and Communications. His fields of specialization are Optimal Hydrothermal Scheduling, Unit Commitment, Maintenance Scheduling, Energy Conservation (loss minimization and voltage control), Power Quality and Energy System Planning and Modelling. Shriam K Vasudevan is an M Tech, MBA, (PhD) with 6+ years of industrial and academic experience. He has done his masters in the field of Embedded Systems. He has worked with top multinational companies like Wipro and Aricent Technologies. He was also associated with VIT University. Currently, he is employed with Amrita University as a Technical Manager-Learning and Development. He has written 11 books in various fields and is authoring 5 more books. Also he has published 29 international journal papers. He was awarded by Wipro Technologies and VIT University for his technical contributions. His invention obtained him inventor award from intellectual ventures. He has got strong interest in the area of Operating Systems, Embedded Systems and Networking. Sundaram R M D is an M Tech, MBA, is working with Wipro Technologies as a Technical Leader. He has published his papers in international journals and has got enormous interest in Image Processing and Operating Systems. Murali N is predominantly an electrical engineer, with Embedded Programming skills, has 7 years of teaching and research experience. He was associated with VIT University for 5 years. And, currently, he is working as a Lecturer at Nizwa College of Technology, Sultanate of Oman.
