Synopsis

Never lose valuable lesson time when circumstances conspire against you!

Minimum preparation, maximum learning: this pack supports Music Departments faced with providing emergency absence cover, often by non-specialist teachers. Music Cover Lessons provides ten valuable learning experiences focused on the need for stylistic awareness, understanding of key terms, and appreciation of musical traditions:

  • Flexibility designed for the non-specialist - the mixed-ability activities can be delivered easily, regardless of the teacher's musical ability or equipment available, and with a minimum of preparation.
  • Multi-purpose - the lessons are designed for KS3 and 4 in school, or as homework, revision or bridging activities.
  • Relevant and purposeful - the activities are focused on providing a valuable learning experience.

Complete with exclusive online resources offering further flexibility, the lessons cover a range of styles from Baroque and British folk to African music. A YouTube playlist has been prepared to help the teacher access suggested listening extracts with a minimum of fuss.
