Synopsis
The Iliad is an epic written by the ancient Greek poet Homer, recounting some of the most significant events of the final weeks of the Trojan War and the Greek siege of the city of Troy. In The Iliad you will read about Agamemnon, Achilles, Hector, and the Greek gods, and how the narrative interweaves them in this great conflict. Written in the mid-8th Century BCE, The Iliad has generally been considered to be the earliest work in the whole Western literary tradition, and one of the most well known and loved stories of all time.

About the Author
Homer (8th or 9th century BCE) is the presumed author of The Iliad and the Odyssey, two great epic poems of ancient Greece. Little is known of him, but given the historical assumption that Homer was the author of the two epics, it cannot be denied that he was then one of the greatest of the world's literary artists.
