Synopsis

The Vampyre race is on the brink of extinction. Their only hope? A woman who wants nothing to do with saving the world.

Turned in 1307, Maeve McKenna has spent centuries keeping her head down and her past buried. Born of Irish magick and Scottish nobility, she never expected to become a pawn in an age-old prophecy. But when a long-forgotten enemy resurfaces with one goal — to wipe out the Vampyre race — Maeve is forced to step out of the shadows and into a war she never asked for.

As she’s thrust into a deadly game of survival, Maeve will form new bonds, confront the ghosts of her lineage, and unlock a power hidden deep in her blood. But time is running out — and her enemies aren’t just monsters… some wear familiar faces.

Packed with fierce heroines, ancient secrets, and blood-soaked battles, Order of the Valkyrie is the first instalment in a gripping urban fantasy series about legacy, power, and the price of destiny. A brooding, lore-rich urban fantasy for fans of The Witcher, Shadowhunters, Anne Rice, and H. P. Lovecraft.

About this title

About the Author

Writing under the pen name S. E. Orlowski, Simone is a New Zealand-born (pākehā) author based in Melbourne, Australia, writing fiction that blends mythology, power, and morally complex characters. While best known for her fantasy work, her stories span genres and consistently centre strong, queer female leads. A late-diagnosed neurodivergent writer, she brings a unique lens to her storytelling, crafting immersive worlds where chaos and history intertwine.By day, she works in logistics; by night, she builds intricate worlds and asks "what if?" far too often-chasing story ideas before they disappear. When she's not writing, she can be found deep in a D&D campaign, lost in a video game, or finding inspiration through music, film, and the outdoors.
