Synopsis

In the summer of 1910, the Ramsays and their eight children visit their holiday house on the Isle of Skye where they are joined by several family friends. In this house overlooking the sea, the Ramsays experience the vagaries of family life - those which give rise to joys and disappointments, tensions and uncertain allegiances. But it isn't until 1920 that the Ramsey family, irrevocably transformed by the war and deaths of the intervening decade, return to the house and embark on a journey to the lighthouse that was planned and postponed long ago.

Hailed as a modernist masterpiece, To the Lighthouse is a novel that explores the complexities of human relationships, the nature of subjectivity and the limitations of perception.
