Synopsis

"The greatest dog that's ever been"

Go Back is the story of Jess the Kelpie and Kevin 'Schoey' Schofield during the 2003 Australian Bushfires.

Many properties and farms were devastated by the impact of these fires. The ferociousness of the blaze was one thing, but the aftermath another.

With fences destroyed, it was the working dogs who mustered livestock and helped restore some order to farmers lives.

There would be very few Australian farmers who don't love and respect their hard-working mates - the Australian Kelpie!

About this title

About the Author

Bruce Mackay was both an adman and a woolgrower, who for over thirty years had a small life-style property near Yass NSW.Jess' story is fictional, but working dogs did much to move stock and minimise losses in the leadup to the 2003 Australian Bushfires. Bruce lost his rams, but his ewes and lambs were kept safe, thanks to the efforts of his neighbours, Rural Fire Service, and a lot of luck. Bruce also wrote the lyrics for a song version of 'Go Back'. Adrian Payne created the music, sings, and shares the story of Jess the Kelpie
