Synopsis
In Pilings at Low Tide, R.T. muses on what is often unseen or unnoted until revealed or closely observed, like the recurring dandelions and clouds which captivate our imagination and return us to our roots, our truths, our childhood selves. The moon plays its part, pulling on the tides as well as on our bodies, made as they are of so much water, and on our minds, reflecting light, illuminating love. Love is on this poet's mind - whether filial, erotic, romantic, or all-encompassing. It is “connective tissue,” a force like gravity which holds us together like the earth itself. As he writes in Morning Meditation, poetry has given him a way “to form a pearl around [his] grief.” This book is the pearl that he gives to us, his readers.
