NEVER ALONE IN THE DARKNESS The Shared Journey of Losing a Child was written for readers to feel as though they are sitting at the kitchen table, sharing a cup of coffee and conversation with the author. After losing her son in 2017, Gibson, felt isolated, walking on the edge between reality and insanity. She had no idea if what she was feeling was normal. Had other mothers experienced the same emotions when they went through the nightmare of their loss? Finding purpose in her pain, she put her deepest emotions into words so other mothers would always have a reference to read, at any given point in their grief, to identify with a mother who knew firsthand what they were feeling. It was her hope these grieving mothers would never feel alone in the fight for their survival. Additionally, she recognized that the death of one’s child affects every person connected to a grieving mother. By sharing her unwelcome firsthand knowledge with them, she knew it would provide them a better understanding of the darkness, struggle, and search for hope a grieving mother endures each day.

Gibson's account of becoming a mother of a deceased child is sure to help others connect with their own experiences. She gives a voice to a circumstance for which our society doesn't even have a word. Her compassion for others is compelling. M. Campini
This was the best heartfelt book I think I ever read. Not only did it help you understand what a mother goes through when a child passes BUT helped me also in funeral etiquette. God Bless You, Carrie. Karen Weekes
I lost a son. Any parent that has lost a child or even if you know a friend that may have lost a child should read this to understand that the grieving you are going through is normal no matter how long it takes. There is no timeline for grieving. Marsha Backus
I am fortunate that I have not lost a child, but I did receive the diagnosis of a life-long disability for my 2-year-old son. The feelings of being alone, lost, losing my mind, suicide, etc. Thank you, Carrie, for reliving that pain to help others. You’re truly selfless. Dody Flynn
