Synopsis

Magdalene is back at the Commune, but her heart is still torn. Can she accept a universe that allows people like Stan to get away with rape and murder? Or does she believe that Gavin Cavanaugh’s vision of universal justice can be realized? Andy and Omar say Cavanaugh’s new order is destabilizing the dimensional plane and could create chaos in the Waking World, maybe even be the end of the universe as they know it, but can they be trusted?

Magdalene begins suffering terrifying visions as she’s pulled closer and closer to the brink of the void by forces she doesn’t understand. Again and again, Gavin Cavanaugh pulls her back. But why?

When she finally finds the answer to that question, she wishes she hadn’t. And then she gets a brutal lesson from the universe that shows her how deeply enmeshed in lies she’s been.

About the Author

ELIZABETH RODERICK (or LIZ RODERICK when she's writing YA) grew up as a barefoot ruffian on an orchard near Yakima, Washington. After moving all around the West Coast of the US, she went to Bosnia and Herzegovina to meet a guy she met on Fiverr when he did cover art for Tales from Purgatory. That poor guy is now her husband, and they live near Laktaši with a growing pack of rescued animals. She is a musician and songwriter, and has an album of original music entitled Surviving the Rapture.Elizabeth writes novels, short stories, and memoir which is way more interesting than it should be. Her stories are about love, death, gang warfare, and madness. Her characters tend to be of the type that society generally shuns: addicts, convicts, and the neurodivergent. She believes if you get to know these characters in books, you'll find them more likable than you originally thought. She applies Hunter S. Thompson's Gonzo method to fiction writing. It often gets a little heavier than what she had in mind, but she chalks it up to forced consciousness expansion. Her website is Talesfrompurgatory.com.She is talesfrompurgatory on TikTok, Instragram, and Bluesky.
