About the New STAAR Reading Tests

The STAAR tests have recently been redesigned. After the 2020-2021 school year, students will no longer take a STAAR Writing test in grades 4 and 7. Instead, all the STAAR Reading tests will assess writing skills by including revising and editing question sets. This practice book provides practice answering revising and editing questions just like those on the new tests.

The STAAR tests were previously made up only of multiple-choice questions. By 2022-2023, all STAAR tests will be taken online and the tests will include a wide range of question types.
