About the Author

Acharya Premananda (born Per Oskar Johansen) has many years experience as a practitioner of meditation before becoming a spiritual mentor and meditation master. Today he serves many people in this capacity. For more than 45 years, he has practiced Rising Energy Meditation, a simple and effective approach based on what he learned from his root guru Swami Rudrananda (Rudi) in New York in the 1970’s. Premananda now lives in Europe and holds regular retreats and programs in various locations. Premananda was a student of Swami Rudrananda in New York City from the fall of 1969 until Rudi's passing in 1973. He counts his lineage back to Bhagavan Nityananda who was Rudi’s guru. After Rudi’s passing, Premananda was for many years connected with and continued to practice and develop in an ashram established by Rudi in the US. He has also studied Kashmir Shaivism and other Indian traditions. In addition, he has for many years studied Tibetan Buddhist practices. Premananda has written books and articles about spiritual practice and growth, most notably “Open Your Eyes Within”.
