Life is that breaking point between joy and sorrow, life and death, experience and pain, that moment when you beg for one and run from the other. One life, when captured with a pen, becomes a hologram for all lives. This raw prose of life captures the innermost thoughts, thoughts on the suicide of a friend, of love at first sight, the defense of a murderer, the birth of a child, of life in prison, the joy of marriage, mothers, fathers, the death of a horse, and even "the sound and the fury of presidential politics." Those with the last name Lisle are cursed to scribble their thoughts. The famous "Lisle Letters" were written by Viscount Lisle, the illegitimate son of Edward IV in 1533; Claude Josephe De Lisle wrote the French National Anthem in 1792; and Leconte De Lisle was a famous poet born in 1818, and so it seems history does rhyme as Mark Twain said, and this long family history forces me to mercilessly scribble my thoughts on paper.
