Synopsis
刘文典是民国饱受争议的校勘大家。早期师从章太炎并追随孙中山投身民族革命,后受聘于北大、清华任教,以《淮南鸿烈集注》《庄子补注》名世。任安徽大学校长时因同情中共曾与蒋介石公开面铮;任教"西南联合大学"时又与闻一多不睦;情亲胡适,而学术及修为又遭傅斯年诟病。晚年留聘于云南大学直至生命终结。
本书博采刘文典先生留世学术专著多种、相关史料,及对先生家族亲属直接采访,将其置于清末至共产中国这一特殊历史背景加以剖析、梳理,以之作为案例,记录一代知识分子的思想价值探索和历史命运。全书盖含如下几部分:早期思想探源、"五四"前后由民族主义革命者向新文化创建者的嬗变、抗战时期作为文化行动家及行动文化家的顽强抗争,以及大陆政权鼎革前后的追寻、逃逸和毁灭。
