Synopsis

In the vibrant tapestry of everyday life, the heartfelt verses penned by a Scottish émigré resonate with warmth, humor, and the nostalgic echoes of childhood. Drawing on the rich lexicon of broad Scots, the author invites readers into her world—one that spans continents, from Turriff, Scotland, to the sun-drenched landscapes of New Zealand. As a former educator, her experience is woven seamlessly into her poetry, bringing familiar themes of family, community, and the joys and challenges of life to the forefront. Each rhymed line is a reflection of her journey: from meeting her husband at Aberdeen University, nurturing three daughters, to her unique role within the educational system as Deputy Principal of the same school, breaking new ground in a foreign land. In her second collection of verses, the author delights in the everyday subjects that shape our lives—celebrating the mundane, the sublime, and the love that binds us as families and friends. With a gentle, rhythmic flow, her poetry captures the essence of both Scottish vernacular and the heart of New Zealand, creating a unique voice that resonates with laughter and poignant reflection. Join her as she shares the stories behind the rhymes, inviting readers to find joy in the ordinary as they journey together through a landscape painted with love, memory, and a touch of whimsy.
