PRESIDENT'S WORKING GROUP ON FINANCIAL MARKETS-a.k.a. the Plunge Protection Team-was created after the financial crash on October 19, 1987, by President Ronald Reagan in 1988. Members of the Working Group are the Secretary of the Treasury and the Chairpersons of the Federal Reserve System, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
