Synopsis
What could possibly go wrong when teenagers Jimmy, Maggie, and Robert strike out on a secret road trip to search for their friend Mary Schroedler, a runaway wanted for car theft, who closed a letter to them with the plea “P.S. Do not try to find me”?
Meanwhile, parents Mary and Martin accompany their friend and brother-in-law, John, north to reunite with his wife, Rose. But tensions rise when unexpected doubts and suspicions divide the couples.
Eleven-year-old Joey, left alone at home, searches for his place among the neighborhood kids and his own family. But will he bite off more than he can chew when he tries to prove he isn’t just a kid?
One day. Three searches. Broken promises and dire decisions will cause lasting discord in the Carlson family, shaking their belief in themselves, eradicating their trust for one another, and throwing a wrench in the machinelike efficiency of the family farm. About the Author
Gordon W. Fredrickson was raised on a small dairy farm in Minnesota, served three years in the United States Army after high school, graduated with a teaching degree from the University of Minnesota, taught English to grades nine through twelve, directed high school plays and musicals, and has written nineteen books for adults and children with the aim to enlighten and entertain. His wife, Nancy, coauthored several of the books as photographer and photo editor. Gordon and Nancy have downsized from their hobby farm and now reside in a townhome less than twenty miles from where they grew up.
