Synopsis

Center for Engaged Learning Open Access Book Series

Series Editors: Jessie L Moore and Peter Felten

Transparent assignments make expectations visible and invite students to take an active role in learning. TILTed Pedagogy brings together instructors across disciplines to show how the Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT) framework can deepen learning, engagement, and equity in higher education.

Organized around the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning's Grand Challenges, these cases offer adaptable assignments across disciplines and contexts. Each explains its pedagogical foundations, provides implementation guidance and transparent teaching materials, reflects on lessons learned, and suggests adaptations. Together, the assignments foster critical thinking, engagement, reflection, student agency, and more inclusive learning.

For new and experienced instructors, graduate teaching assistants, and educational developers, this open-access collection offers evidence-based models to adapt and use. It invites educators to join a community committed to meaningful learning for all.
