Synopsis
Sharon Webster’s husband, Bill, is still in her life, but after their son is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Bill accepts a promotion that requires lengthy absences.
When a precocious, red-headed little girl climbs the backyard fence to play, Sharon is more than willing to accommodate a friend for her son. The little intruder becomes a crucial link to a new friendship with an elderly black couple during Bill’s long absences. Then two days after Bill makes a surprise return, their son slips out of the house and is lost in historic Washington D.C. As they search for her son, Sharon is forced to rely on both her new friends and the husband she believes no longer loves her. What she doesn’t realize is that her new friends recognize her unspoken hurts and, with God’s help, are determined to help her.
Inspired by her childhood foster brother, Kari Rimbey’s debut novel highlights the disastrous decisions that are made when communication breaks down and unfair suppositions are made. It serves as a reminder that God intends for people to reach out to those surrounding them and that forgiveness is necessary for the heart to heal. About the Author
Kari Rimbey is the author of award-winning short story “Who is Maria”. After a decade of working in teen ministry, she is now the story lady for nearly forty K-2nd graders at her churches midweek children’s ministry. She is a wife, mother of three daughters, and grandmother of six and lives in the beautiful Palouse region of Northeastern Washington.
