Synopsis

Nikkolas: The Story of Santa Claus by John G. MacKenzie
This story illustrated with 33 pieces of original art by John G. MacKenzie is about the life of Santa Claus from birth until death. Given up by his father because his mother died in childbirth, he grew up with a different family every year until he was fifteen years old and lived with a carpenter and his wife. There he learned the carpentry trade. He and his wife could not have children, so Nikkolas made wooden toys for everyone else's children and delivered them on Christmas Eve.

About the Author

John G. MacKenzie has had a pencil in his hand for as long as he can remember. His mother told him that when he was little, there was a commercial artist living in the downstairs apartment who would sit him on his knee and teach him how to draw stick people. In High School, he was shy and introverted, but he was lucky enough to cross paths with a young English teacher named Brian Van Norman who asked him if he would be interested in joining the Drama Club. This was the best thing that could have happened to him, he says. John went to eht University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, for one year and studied acting. He then decided that he was more interested in writing and directing, and he went to Humber College in Toronto for Film and Television Production and graduated with honors. Now, returning to his first love, he became a portrait artist and combined that with his love and talent to write children's books, hence NIKKOLAS: The Story of Santa Claus was born.
