Synopsis

A coating is a covering, which is applied on the surface of an object for varied functional or decorative purposes. It can be applied as liquids, solids or gases. Using the techniques of coating, surface properties of the substrate such as corrosion resistance, wear resistance, adhesion or wettability can be changed. It can also provide electrical conductivity or magnetic response in certain cases such as in semiconductor device fabrication. Some of the coating processes and technologies may be grouped into the broad areas of roll-to-roll coating processes, vapor deposition, spraying, physical coating processes, chemical and electrochemical techniques. The aim of this book is to present researches that have transformed coatings technology and aided its advancement. There has been rapid progress in this area and its applications are finding their way across multiple industries. Coherent flow of topics, student-friendly language and extensive use of examples make this book an invaluable source of knowledge.
