The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - Softcover

Fitzgerald, F Scott

9781627300513: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Synopsis

Born with the appearance of a 70-year-old man, Benjamin Button grows physically younger with each passing year, until, in the end . . . Well, you'll just have to read it for yourself. A masterful story from the master storyteller of the Jazz Age. The author wrote, "This story was inspired by a remark of Mark Twain's to the effect that it was a pity that the best part of life came at the beginning and the worst part at the end. By trying the experiment upon only one man in a perfectly normal world I have scarcely given his idea a fair trial." But the author was wrong: It's a knockout of a story--recently released as a major motion picture starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett.

Review

Joseph Coates

"Chicago Tribune"

Bruccoli gives [us]...a virtually new and vastly amplified Fitzgerald.

Mark Caldwell

"The Philadelphia Inquirer"

More than enough to re-establish Fitzgerald as a master of the American short story.

Jay McInerney

"The New York Review of Books"

One pleasure of rereading Fitzgerald's stories now is to rediscover just how good some of them in fact are, and how brilliant a handful.

Leonard A. Podis

"The Cleveland Plain Dealer"

This is a valuable collection, whether one reads the stories to delight in Fitzgerald's style, to conjure up a lost era, to learn more about the career of a great American novelist, or simply to gain insight into the human condition.

About the Author

Nunzio DeFilippis and Christina Weir are the authors of several original graphic novels, including Skinwalker, Three Strikes, Maria's Wedding, and Past Lies (all from Oni Press). They've also worked extensively in superhero comics and have written for Wonder Woman, New X-Men, Adventures of Superman, and Hellions. Kevin Cornell is an illustrator based in Philadelphia. I don't have a real bio for him yet, but his stuff is awesome. Check out his site: www.bearskinrug.co.uk. Below are examples of the illustration style we'll be using in our book.
