Until Philadelphia's Route 62 (Darby-Yeadon) was combined with Route 13 in 1971, Route 62 was the shortest trolley car line in the United States. Kenneth C. Springirth, 1962 graduate of Drexel Institute of Technology and author of numerous books on streetcar and railroad lines, has a long interest in rail history as his father was a streetcar motorman in Philadelphia, and his grandfather was a streetcar motorman in Washington, D.C.
