Seven maidens wait impatiently in the treasure room of the Sultan to hear which of them he has chosen for his bride. Each princess, from a different exotic country, has spent exactly one moonlit evening with the Sultan, but days have passed with no word. When the Sultan’s attendant bursts in with an hourglass and declares that the Sultan’s decision will be known once the sand has completely fallen, the maidens agree to pass the final minutes by enacting the tale of Aladdin, a tale each claims as her country's own. Filled with magic, adventure, intrigue and romance, this all-female version of the classic story packs a powerful message of empowering young women to fulfill their own wishes. 50-60 minutes. 9 females. Ideal for middle schools, high schools, youth theatres, universities, and community theatres. Published and performances licensed by YouthPLAYS (www.youthplays.com), publisher of plays for young actors and audiences.
