Synopsis
Hoping for a bike for his sixth birthday, Stevie Parker is surprised to find something even better in the garage: a puppy. With tousled gray and brown fur and a wild beard, he looks like a Scruffy to Stevie. Soon the two are best of friends, and Stevie is learning to properly care for his dog. Dr. T. Amos Potter, an experienced veterinarian, has thoughtfully portrayed a charming story of a boy and his dog in The Gift of Scruffy. Including details gained from years of experience with animals, Potter draws readers in with his warm style and vivid characters. Enjoy this touching tale as Stevie experiences the trials and pleasures of owning a pet, from caring for Scruffy through an illness to taking him to school to demonstrate what the vet, Dr. Ben, taught him about reflexes. Follow along for laughs, tears, and valuable lessons as taught by a rambunctious little dog named Scruffy in this inspired tale that will entertain young and old alike and discover the ultimate impact The Gift of Scruffy has on Stevie's life.
