About the Author

Nicholas J. Higham is Royal Society Research Professor and Richardson Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Manchester, UK. He is the author of more than 150 papers and four SIAM books and is editor of The Princeton Companion to Applied Mathematics. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society, a SIAM Fellow, a Member of Academia Europaea, and a past president of SIAM.
