Synopsis
Benjamin Franklin observed: Tell me and I forget; Teach me and I remember; Involve me and I learn. With this in mind, Uniform Commercial Code Article 9, Problems and Materials on Secured Transactions involves the students in active learning through the use of cases, code sections and official comments, and examples. Students are directed through a series of questions and diagrams to ascertain the operative facts those facts relevant to the application of the code sections involved. The questions are numerous, and some are interspersed within the cases and examples. Encountering code sections in the context of actual cases helps students more easliy make connections between the facts and the law, and avoid the boredom and incomprehension that may arise from reading a code section in isolation.
