Synopsis
When Doctor Lester Lawson and insurance dick Toughy Nichols get together on a suspicious death, there's no scam they can't spot a mile away, and the Continental Insurance Agency is much richer for it. But when the ultra-rich Albert Browning, insured for a million clams, gets incinerated in his own furnace room, the two find themselves in a cauldron of steaming hot trouble. As told by the wise-cracking Toughy, this rather gruesome mystery from 1938 will surprise you with its frank depiction of police forensics of the time. It's like CSI: 1938, except with much better dialog and acting.
