From the Back Cover

The Life and Miracles of St. Benedict have here been preserved and reprinted in this replica 1880 edition from the collected works of Roman clergyman SAINT GREGORY THE GREAT (540-604), one of the Great Latin Fathers of the Church. In recounting the tales of Saint Benedict, Gregory wished to provide for his readers with a blueprint for leading a good holy life.

He explains that some people find it easier to live by example than to learn from a sermon, and so he presents to them the venerable life of Benedict. Gregory lived only one generation after Benedict, and his admiration for the man is apparent, both by the personal informality of the writing and the length of the volume in comparison to his other works.

Spiritual seekers will find inspiration in the life of one of the Church's most influential saints.
