This children's book tells the true story of a Mennonite woman named Edna Ruth Byler who traveled to Puerto Rico in 1946 and met women who struggled to find jobs and feed their families. The women were talented at embroidery and hoped to sell their work. Edna decided to try and help and thus began the beginning of Ten Thousand Villages, a fair trade company that sells handmade crafts from artisans around the world.
