"Russ Marion" grew up in North Carolina and received four degrees in education and educational administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has been a public school teacher, a school principal, and a program director in the North Carolina Department of Education. He is currently a professor of educational leadership at Clemson University in South Carolina where he teaches several courses in organizational theory. Marion's research interests include organizational theory, school finance and student achievement, and nonlinear social dynamics. He has published articles on organizational theory and finance in journals such as "Journal of Education Finance, The British Journal of Management in Education, Emergence: A Journal of Complexity Issues in Organizations and Management," and "The Journal of School Leadership." In addition to this text, Russ Marion has also written "The Edge of Organization: Chaos and Complexity Theories of Formal Social Systems."
