Synopsis
Showcases the art and character of the peaceful Edo period (1615-1867) of Japanese history. The patterns represent the shift of the era that placed a new focus on the craftsmen and artisans of the time and on the culture of the townspeople. Each design was carefully selected and is part of a wide range of categories, from animal and vegetation patterns to geometrical and everyday patterns. The Edo culture is alive within each pattern and represents the atmosphere and vibrancy of a time past.

About the Author
An Art Director since 1964, Shigeki Nakamura established Cobble Corporation Co. Ltd. in 1987. The company published a book of ESP Pattern Library Digital Materials, which can be seen on its website www.cobbleart.com. He has received many awards, such as the Minister of International Trade and Industry Award, and is a member of the JAGDA (Japanese Graphic Designer Association).
