It is written for the Operations Officer who leads the department, but is a useful tool for anyone interested in how the Fleet works. To succeed in today's Navy, the Operations Officer must understand the global environment where our Navy operates as well as the organizational context of how Navy missions are defined and assigned. About the Author
Cdr. John R. H. Callaway, USN, a graduate of Georgetown University, was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps in 1994. He has served in six ships including two tours as Operations Officer and two tours in command. Married with three children, he resides in Herndon, VA.
