About the Author

Maureen is a partner at Brick & Sugarman, LLP, a boutique family law firm in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She focuses her practice on all aspects of family law, including but not limited to divorce, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, modification and contempt actions, and paternity and custody actions. Maureen has tried many cases, has acted as a mediator, and has been involved in several family law appeals. She enjoys the cutting edge aspects of Massachusetts family law, and is actively involved in several cases in which the new alimony laws are being tested. Maureen s practice also involves litigating, mediating and / or acting as a consultant on family law related issues that arise from the use of assisted reproductive technology. Maureen has been elected a Rising Star by Boston Magazine each and every year since 2007. She is the co-author of Assisted Reproductive Technology: A Lawyer s Guide to Emerging Law and Science and is the co-author of the upcoming 4th Edition of Massachusetts Practice Family Law and Practice. She is an adjunct professor at Suffolk University Law School and is a family law section council member for the Massachusetts Bar Association. Maureen has published several articles and has been quoted on numerous occasions in the Wall Street Journal and other periodicals. She has served as a panelist for legal education programs for MCLE, the BBA, the MBA and for the Diane Rehm show on NPR. She is a legal consultant to author Jodi Picoult.
