Synopsis
Pashto, designated a critical language by the U.S. Department of Defense, is one of two official languages of Afghanistan and is also spoken by about 15% of the population of Pakistan. Smaller Pashto communities are found in northeastern Iran, Tajikistan, and a few areas of India. It uses a modified Arabic alphabet, with additional letters for Pashto-specific sounds, and is written from right to left. This book covers the language needed for everyday functions and includes an introduction to the Pashto alphabet.

About the Author
Rahmon Inomkhojayev is a professor at the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, where he teaches Pashto and Afghan studies. He is from Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
