Synopsis
The rural Vermont hill country forms the backdrop for a suspenseful tale about Lillian, a young woman who refuses to back down from threats by a dangerous local villain, Blackway, who forces her boyfriend to flee and whom law enforcement is unable to touch, as she fights back against her enemy with the help of two unlikely allies--Lester, a crafty old-timer, and the powerful but naïve Nate.

About the Author
Castle Freeman Jr. is the award-winning author of five other books, including his most recent novel (2009) All That I Have. He has been a regular essayist for The Old Farmer’s Almanac since 1982, and lives in Newfane, Vermont.
