Synopsis
This poetic novel about love in a time of revolution and change, from one of the most influential literary figures of modern times, is a work of lyricism, commitment, painting, politics, passion and intellect. Set in Paris in May of 1968, revolution and love are in the air as the love between a young American Painter and her Portuguese lover, a banker and anarchist, unfolds against those heady days when students of the Sorbonne tried to find common cause with workers who despised them, and Annie's passion for the world meets Julian's disdain for the human race.

About the Author
Lawrence Ferlinghetti was an integral part of the Beat movement, both as a publisher at City Lights Press and as a host of countless readings at his famed San Francisco bookstore, City Lights Books. He is the author of numerous books including the famous A Coney Island of the Mind, which has sold nearly a million copies. A long-time resident of San Francisco, he is currently that city's Poet Laureate and writes a monthly column on poetry for the San Francisco Chronicle.
