Review

""Making Metal Beads: Techniques, Projects, Inspiration" by Pauline Warg demonstrates a number of techniques for making beads from metal as well as altering prefabricated metal beads. This book is designed for the metalsmith who also has a passion for beads, which is refreshing to see since metal work and bead work are often segregated for some reason. Warg shows how to use tubing, how to make cold connections, how to operate a hydraulic press, how to form domes with dapping block, and how to enhance commercial metal beads. This includes 25 metal bead projects. While finished jewelry incorporating metal beads is also shown throughout the full-color book, the emphasis is on making the beads, not necessary assembling the finished pieces shown. If you have been looking for a way to combine your love of metal with your love of beads, then this book is perfect for you. It is, however, not for the uninitiated metal person. Granted, there is plenty of "how-to" help throughout, great pictures,
