Edge of Eternity is an other-worldly novel which stretches the reader's imagination, helping him or her to realize that things--and people--are not always what they appear. In this other world--called Skiathuros (window of darkness)--the main character Nick Seagrave is able to catch glimpses of the normally invisible worlds that surround him. Being able to see into heaven and hell both surprises and disturbs Nick, who has lived his life on earth unaware of and indifferent to the spiritual realm. Through Nick's eyes the reader is able to see the eternal in a new and fresh way. After my last two novels Deadline and Dominion (both best-selling murder mysteries with some other-worldly elements), I knew Edge of Eternity was risky, in that it defies categories and early on the reader is disoriented, along with the main character. But as Nick awakens to the realities that press upon him, so does the reader--and I'm delighted to be receiving many emails from readers very excited about the book. One of my favorite is from a 13 year old boy who said Edge of Eternity "has made a profound impact on my life" and "has turned my life around." Those kinds of responses make all the sweat and tears that went into writing the book more than worth it.
