From the Author

Linux moves quickly, so book updates will be on the Web
The book is an in-depth look at the TCP/IP protocol as implemented in the Linux Operation System. Using the style of John Lion's original much-photocopied A Commentary on the Unix Operating System, Linux IP Stacks Commentary guides you through the ins and outs of TCP, UDP, ICMP, routing, IPCHAIN firewallcode, and the Linux TCP/IP applications interface. The source for the network code is included in the book and on the CD-ROM.

This book took over a year to produce, and Linux moves much, much faster than that. To keep the book up to date, the authors are building a second edition to the book on the Web.

Synopsis

Describes and analyzes source module code for kernel routines implementing ICM, IP, and UDP protocols for Linux servers and applications.
