Synopsis
The baritone Lawrence Tibbett made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1923 and rose to stardom in opera, film and radio. This biography traces his life from the poverty of his Wild West youth to his years of wealth and fame in New York and Hollywood. Tibbett's vocal decline and descent into alcoholism is also recounted.
